3 Affordable Wellness Vacation Ideas

As we’re a quarter into the year, you might be thinking you need some time to relax and recharge. However, prices for travel are higher than they were a few years ago, so you might want to consider an affordable wellness vacation or staycation. Think about doing some healthy exploration, especially if all you have time for is a quick trip or a weekend in your area. It’s also an excellent way to help you recharge.

To create your wellness vacation, you can use any long weekends you may get through statutory holidays. If you’re able to take a couple of days off of work, it’s another option.

Working out on vacation may give you some ideas to take back home if you have difficulty fitting fitness into your regular schedule.

These suggestions work if you want to travel alone or with one or a couple more people, and some you can do in your city, which can save you money.

Three affordable wellness vacation ideas

  1. Go on an organized fitness retreat

Check out Money Crasher’s list of top fitness retreats on a budget. There are locations worldwide. Depending on where you are, you can find one that works for you close to home.

  • If you prefer to do something on your own: Book a place that offers you the workout options you want.
  • If it’s warm: Hike, swim, kayak, snorkel, surf, hang glide, or cycle. The possibilities are endless.
  • If you’re going to wait until winter to take some time off: Snowshoe, ski, ice skate, snowboard, go hiking or go on a cave exploration.

Those who know me well know that I’m not a camper, but camping is a relatively affordable way to stay active. Last year, I did go glamping and enjoyed it a lot! I definitely would go back.

We went to Long Point Eco Adventures for anyone in or around Ontario, Canada. They have a range of places to stay and activities at different price points to accommodate different budgets. We went during the week, which can save money.

  1. Have some water fun

Think about a water adventure. Go kayaking, rafting, surfing, wind sailing, deep-sea fishing, and diving. Depending on where you live, you can even whale watch in some places around the world.

Some places offer great eco-adventures for a long weekend, like parts of the USA (California), Canada (British Columbia), South Africa and Australia, to name a few.

Check Google or check Groupon and LivingSocial for any deals.

I’m not much of a water person – well, I’m not the best swimmer! So, my idea of water fun is water therapies and swimming at a spa. It’s relaxing, and swimming in a pool keeps me active.

If you’re in Toronto, Body Blitz has fantastic water therapies. Tuesdays are discount days, and you can finish up with some at-home spa treatments to continue relaxing for another day and not break the bank.

  1. Serenity now

You can find different levels of healthy living retreats depending on your wants. You can learn stress reduction techniques like yoga, meditation, and stretching and have consultations on fitness and nutrition. Or you can amp it up and learn all that, plus get acupuncture and give up wheat, alcohol and red meat for the weekend. For some, it might seem challenging to give up everything, but it’s only for a weekend, and it’s a great way to detox.

The top 10 wellness retreats around the world list the best ones. From here, you can search for deals on similar reasonably priced places.

These are some of my affordable wellness vacation ideas, depending on your budget. Recharging is essential for everyone; hopefully, trying it at home can be helpful if going away isn’t reasonable right now.
