Tariff update on orders going to the USA

Summary 

• Effective August 29, all shipments going to the USA will be subject to tariffs and possibly duties (depending on the cost).
• These charges will be calculated by U.S. Customs based on the value of the goods and collected from customers upon delivery.
• Our prices are not rising, and we will still offer free shipping over $40 USD to our customers based in the United States.
• Hopefully, the exchange rate of $1.39 CAD to $1.00 USD will help offset some of the tariff costs.
• We have taken proactive steps by applying for an exemption to the new tariff order. We will keep you updated as soon as we have more information.

Style Escape products were previously exempt from tariffs because the cost of our goods was under the $800 USD (de minimis) threshold.

As of August 29, the de minimis exemption will be eliminated for all shipments imported into the U.S., regardless of origin country or shipment value. It also means that all shipments will need to go through U.S. Customs Border Protection (CBP) and could be subject to duties and taxes.

Tariff projections from August 29, 2025

• Tariffs are approximately 16% for shipments under $80 USD
• Tariffs between 16% and 25% for shipments under $160 USD
• Tariffs above 25% for shipments over $200 USD

What we're doing to help offset the costs to our US-based customers

• We have applied for an exemption to the order and will update you as soon as we have more information.
• We will still offer free shipping for items $40 USD and over (international shipping costs are also changing based on the new order, but we will absorb the costs).
• Because all of our products are made in Canada, our prices are not increasing (as we don't have to pay incoming tariffs), and we are committed to keeping our prices stable.
• The current exchange rate is $1.39 CAD to $1.00 USD, which hopefully helps with the product price points. If this changes drastically at any point, we will revisit our pricing.

Our regular shipping company, Canada Post, will no longer ship to the U.S. due to tariff restrictions, so we will use UPS consistently, with Purolator as a backup company.
